Alcohol consumption fell 1.2 percent in 2022, according to new figures from the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).
On average, Finns aged 15 and above consumed drinks containing the equivalent of 8.9 litres of pure alcohol over the course of the year.
Retail sales fell around ten percent in 2022 while sales in bars and restaurants increased some 34 percent, reflecting a shift back to hospitality businesses as Covid restrictions drew to a close.
Overall alcohol consumption has been declining in Finland since 2007.
