The Finnish Tax Administration has revealed that over 80 million euros in taxes from over 300,000 residents remain unpaid following the August deadline.
The authority reported that the largest share of unpaid taxes is property tax, amounting to a total of around 50 million euros. This means that over 250,000 property owners have not settled their payments, according to the tax office's figures.
A significant amount of back taxes also remain unpaid, totalling over 30 million euros in August, owed by more than 60,000 customers.
Tax officials remind late payers to check their payment details in the MyTax service to ensure that any interest fees are also settled. Interest on late payments — which amounts to 11 percent — starts accruing the day after the due date.
The tax authority also recommends setting up e-invoices for upcoming taxes at least two weeks before their due dates to ensure timely payment.
