"Relations between Finland and the US are very close," Stubb says after phoning Trump

During the call with the 47th US president, Finnish President Alexander Stubb congratulated Donald Trump on his 'clear election victory.'

Alexander Stubb on Monday said that he had spoken with the incoming President of the United States, Donald Trump.

"Great call with Donald Trump. I congratulated him on his clear election victory," Stubb posted on messaging platform X.

Stubb noted that the two discussed topics including Ukraine, Russia, China, European security as well as icebreaker cooperation between Finland, the United States and Canada.

"Relations between Finland and the US are very close," Stubb wrote.

Other Nordic and world leaders have also been calling to congratulate Trump. For instance Norway's Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, has also spoken with Trump, according to Norwegian public broadcaster NRK.
