Finnish Parliament's Defence Committee will hold an exceptional meeting on Friday, according to the committee's chair, Jukka Korpa (NCP), who announced the matter on social media platform X on Monday.
The committee plans to discuss recent events in the Baltic Sea.
The meeting was called after authorities suspected that an oil tanker had deliberately severed an electrical cable between Finland and Estonia, as well as four telecommunications cables at the bottom of the Gulf of Finland last week.
Finnish authorities detained and boarded the Eagle S tanker, as it launched an investigation.
Last Friday, President Alexander Stubb explained how Finland would respond to the incidents.
"We will continue to strengthen Nato and EU actions and proceed with the inspections agreed upon at the JEF assembly a couple of weeks ago," Stubb said referring to a meeting of Joint Expeditionary Force leaders in Tallinn, Estonia, earlier this month.
On Sunday, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said that a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) found a trail carved into the seabed up to 100km long.
The NBI said it suspects an anchor belonging to the Eagle S left the trail as it damaged the cables.
The Defence Committee plans to meet on Friday morning.
