The act Finland sends to the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) will take part in the competition's second semi-final in Switzerland, according to the contest's organisers the European Broadcasting Union.

The order of the competition was decided in a random drawing on Tuesday.

More precisely, Finland will compete in the second half of the second semi-final of ESC 2025 on 15 May.

However, it remains unclear which act Finland will send to Basel, Switzerland to compete.

That will be decided by the results of UMK, the Contest for New Music, on Saturday 8 February, at the Nokia Arena in Tampere.

Six acts, rather than seven, are scheduled to compete at UMK, due to the recent disqualification of the band One Morning Left.

More information about the six UMK competitors, as well as videos of their songs, can be found in this article.

According to Yle, the contest's organisers, UMK's winner will be decided by a combination of a public vote (75%) and an international professional jury (25%).

In a big change from past years, Yle noted that it plans to open up the public vote at the very beginning of the UMK broadcast.

"By extending the voting period, we want to give voters more time to support their favorite. At the same time, we hope to achieve the highest-ever vote count in UMK history this year," the contest's executive producer, Anssi Autio, said.
