Service Union United PAM, which represents retail workers, has issued a new strike warning.
If it goes ahead, the industrial action will begin at 5am on Thursday 20 March and continue until Friday, 21 March, at 11:59pm.
The strike warning affects around 20,000 employees and managers at 41 retailers, including general merchandise and specialty stores as well as wholesale outlets.
PAM has published a list of the companies affected by the strike warning, which includes workers at the companies' outlets as well as at logistics operations and offices.
The strike warning affects companies including retailers Ikea, Gigantti, Normal, Motonet and many others.
Last month, PAM led a strike of tens of thousands of workers in the supermarket sector after negotiations with employers failed to reach an agreement.
Last week, PAM announced that it had suspended collective bargaining talks with the Finnish Commerce Federation employers group, saying that it did not currently see viable conditions to continue negotiations.
In particular, the union has said it wants to include stronger protections against employee dismissals, as the Finnish government aims to loosen rules on dismissing workers.
The union said it carried out a straw poll of its members last week, asking them how important it was to include employee dismissal protection in the new collective agreement. It said that 85 percent of retail workers who responded to the question considered it very important.
PAM has also said that other goals in the negotiations include restoring the purchasing power of employees, as well as improving the status of part-time workers.
