"Hintergrund" consists of seventeen drawings by George Grosz for a 1928 German performance of The Good Soldier Švejk. ("Hintergrund" can mean "backdrop.")

Richard Sica provided these scans. He remembers that Grosz was charged with blasphemy for his drawing of a crucified Jesus wearing a gas mask. (I say: Sacrilicious.)
