–His shoulders, thighs, and upper arms bear slightly darker splotches, too large to be called freckles. Comparisons to a couerl would probably be rude.

–His ears are very large, with fluffy interiors and almost entirely black exteriors.

–Usually has at least one chocobo feather stuck in his hair or clothes somewhere.

COMMON ACCESSORIES
–More a lack of accessory, really; he never seems to wear an entire shirt that covers his whole torso, and insists he doesn’t need one. If he’s shivering in the cold, you must be mistaken.

–His ears are pierced along their length, and he wears very glittery earrings. The jewels seem to be fake.

–Somehow finds room in his pockets for a deck of cards.

DIFFICULTIES: Trained as a hunter, not a fighter; lacks combat instincts beyond “kill it harder.” No training in magic at all.

HISTORY: Q'sevet Tia—Sevet, of the Puk tribe—was born in a small Thanalan village as one of many children of Q'shaness and the tribe’s nunh Q'terret. Though he has a dozen half-siblings, he was closest to Kerahn, one of his few brothers. Together, they raised merry hell as small children, jointly responsible for innumerable pranks and jointly sharing the blame rather than let either one face their uncle’s judgement. It was widely considered something of a shame; as tias, they would likely have to come to blows eventually if they ever wanted to be nunh, or else leave the village forever. As they grew older and were still as close as ever, the village held their collective breaths—but to no avail, for neither of them held any interest in the position. The expectation that he ought to ground away in Sevet’s mind, a steady irritation that he finally could bear no longer.

And so, one day, he left—but he wasn’t alone. Kerahn came with him, likewise fed up by their tribes’ constant anticipation that they would be at each others’ throats, and together they set out for a place to make their own fortunes. Limsa Lominsa was known to be a rough city, but it held neither Gridania’s elementals nor Ul’dah’s oligarchy, so it was a perfect place for two Seekers to find a living.

In the end, it was a chocobo that saved him. He’d always been good with animals; when a trader offered to sell him a sick bird at a discount, he took her up on the offer and nursed the bird back to health. The newly christened Q’seris was of no great pedigree, but she was fast and clever enough to win a few small races and gain the attention of the Lominsan livery stables, who made it clear he’d always be able to find work as a stablehand. His true passion, however, lay with riskier occupations—gambling, racing, all manners of acrobatic feats of derring-do—and thus, when the Gold Saucer racetracks came to Costa del Sol, there he was with his bird. Kerahn disapproved, but Sevet was undaunted; he soon settled into a circuit between Vylbrand and Thanalan, racing his sleek golden bird with a stylized puk on her barding and betting heavily on the outcome. When he’s winning, he can be found lazing in a hammock in Limsa or drinking at the Drowning Wench with handsome men; when luck hasn’t gone his way, he’s been forced to take up a bow and arrow and hunt for his supper the way he did as a child. He prefers the races.

It’s not a sustainable lifestyle. In more recent times, the winds of change have been blowing towards the east. Ala Mhigo, so recently freed from Garlean rule, had no need of entertainers, and so that wasn’t an option—but the adventurers that have been heading there are in need of someone to look after their mounts, at least of the two-legged and feathered variety. When he was approached by an Ishgardian priest to look after the chocobos stabled by his fledgling free company headquarters in the Goblet, he eagerly accepted. On an empty stomach, steady wages plus room and board were worth the boredom.

Currently, he can be found in Thanalan, looking overworked—and instantly perking up whenever anyone mentions a party.

YOU MIGHT KNOW HIM IF…

–you’re a fellow Q tribe Seeker

–you breed, train or take care of chocobos

–you race chocobos or bet on races; Q'seris has a decent win record

–you spend a lot of time in the Gold Saucer

–you drink, work, or live in Limsa Lominsa

–you’re at all amenable to partying or flirting with friendly Seekers

–you have a chocobo you often stable in Limsa or Ul'dah; odds are good that Sevet has been around to help

–you hire people for odd jobs; he’s constantly trying new ways of making a semi-steady income

RP HOOKS:

  • Place your bets on the race, sir? Or are you competing?” - Sevet, to his brother’s despair, is an inveterate gambler. Also to his brother’s despair, he can never refuse a challenge or an insult to the quality of his bird.

  • Say, aren’t you Q’tenbe Tia’s nephew? How’s he getting on?” - Sevet’s village is well-known for the diplomatic and trade endeavours spearheaded by his uncle, the village leader. If you’ve passed by their lands, odds are good you’ve heard of them (or had spare girls all but foisted upon you by his father, who is getting desperate to retire).

  • You cheatin’ bastard! I’ll have your head!” - He insists he doesn’t cheat. If you’ve lost ten hands in a row to him, you may think differently.
