Viktar Korbut
Born on 21 September 1981 in Minsk (Belarus).
Graduated from the Belarusian State University of Culture with a master's degree in “Museology and Protection of Monuments of History and Culture (Museology)” (2003). Defended at the University of Warsaw a doctoral thesis “The Belarusian language as a factor of the formation of the Belarusian national identity during the 1905–1907 revolution in the light of the literary activity on the pages of the first Belarusian-language newspapers “Nasza Dola” and “Nasza Niwa” (2024).
He has appeared in print since 1998 with articles on the history of Belarus, Lithuania, Poland. Author of the books “Минск. Лучший вид на этот город” (Minsk. The Best View on This City) (2013), “Ад Мінска да Вільні. Гісторыя Беларусі ў журналісцкіх нататках” (From Minsk to Vilnius. The History of Belarus in Journalist’s Notes) (2016), “Мінск. Спадчына старога горада. 1067-1917” (Minsk. Heritage of the Old City. 1067-1917) (2016), “Мінск. Спадчына сталіцы Беларусі. 1918-2018” (Minsk. Belarusian Capital Heritage. 1918-2018) (2017) (co-autor of the last two books is Dzmitry Lasko), “Białoruś, Litwa, Polska czasów Stanisława Moniuszki w rysunkach jego ojca Czesława Moniuszki” (Belarus, Lithuania, Poland in the times of Stanisław Moniuszko in the drawings of his father Czesław Moniuszko) (2019); the postcard sets “Vilnius — Вільня. Сталіца Літвы ў гісторыі Беларусі” (Vilnius — Viĺnia. The Capital of Lithuania in the History of Belarus) (2015), “Мінск. Минск. Minsk” (2017), “Беларусь. Беларусь. Belarus” (2017) (co-autor of the last two sets is D. Lasko). Awarded the diploma of the Polish Institute in Minsk for the good faith and the universal value of the cultural journalism (2004).
The winner of the IX Republican Tourist Contest “Recognize Belarus” (2011), VIII National Competition of Print Media “Zalataja Liciera” (Golden Letter) in the nomination “The best articles on culture, history and local history” (2012). Winner of the Prize of the Belarusian Union of Journalists for the best journalistic work in the information and the analytical genres (2013), and in the artistic and journalistic genre (2015). Winner (together with D. Lasko) of the Franciszek Bohuszewicz Belarusian PEN Center Prize for the book “Мінск. Спадчына старога горада. 1067-1917” (2017). Doctoral Student in the University of Warsaw (2016-2022).
Member of the International Association of Specialists in Belarusian Philology (Belarus) and Belarusian Historical Society (Poland). Journalist of Polskie Radio (Polish Radio).
