「Awareness」の類語とその違い
Q:
awareness と consciousness はどう違いますか?
A:
Awareness is used more for social issues. You can technically also use consciousness, but it sounds really strange.
Ex: They are giving out pamphlets to spread awareness of global warming.
Awareness can also be used to express knowledge of a fact.
Ex: I am aware of the test next week.
Consciousness is mostly used for the state of being awake.
Ex: The thief knocked the man on the head, causing him to lose consciousness.
Consciousness also refers to the state of being able to receive your surroundings.
Ex: Trees are not conscious, but cats are.
If we are using this meaning, we would not say "unconscious" for reasons that I don't know lol.
Common phrases with the two words
Spread awareness - make others aware of a serious matter
Lose consciousness - become unconscious
Knock unconscious - cause someone to become unconscious
Self-conscious - excessively concerned about one's own appearance or behaviour

Recognition: Your ability to notice something you've seen/heard/tasted before. If you recognize a person, it means you have seen them before.
Consciousness: Either the state of being awake, or the part of you that thinks. If you are conscious, it means you are awake and thinking.
Realization: If you come to a realization, it means that you've just thought of something new. "I realized that I need to lose weight."
Recognition: Your ability to notice something you've seen/heard/tasted before. If you recognize a person, it means you have seen them before.

Q:
awareness と sense はどう違いますか?
A:
Sense could refer to the 5 senses (touch, taste, hearing, sight, smell), understanding, or sensation in general. Example, "do I make sense?" (can you understand me?), "you're not making sense" (I can't understand you). Awareness is a synonym of Aware which means to know something or be familiar with anything around you or over any subject. Example, "are you aware of your position?" (Do you know/understand your position?), "be aware of your surroundings" (try to get to know what's around you). Hopefully this makes sense ^^
Q:
aware, awareness と conscious, consciousness はどう違いますか?
A:
Aware is a verb. You can be "aware" of someone. You cannot be awareness of someone.

Awareness is a noun.
"My awareness was at its peak."
Consciousness is also a noun, but it is talking about your mind/spirit who you are as a person more than just being awake.
Let me know I need to explain it better.

A:
I think we would say “Koreans’ sense of civic duty”. We don’t really use “civic awareness” although it is understandable. The nuance may be a little different perhaps, but “a sense of civic duty” is awareness of what you should do to be a good citizen so hopefully that is a reasonable translation and it is more idiomatic.
