Slightly disappointing as its average rating is skewed way too high for what it offers. This is an exceptional thriller at times and has some beautiful scenes but also goes way too far into edge lord territory with some disturbing imagery not adding to the story beyond “ok he just did that to get a cheap visceral reaction”.
The historical significance of this is interesting but I think it adds to its prestige a little too much. Judged simply as a film it’s just above average.
