I’m still on the high of just finishing the book, so i went into this comparing everything. But I’ll start with saying that Nicholas is literally the perfect Hayes! He really had me giggling and kicking my feet. His and Anne’s chemistry was just so good. Anne really brought some life to Sol, even though she was a little annoying and not the greatest character in the book.

This film is so harrowing, heartbreaking and beautiful. It’s been a long time since a movie has made me a little uncomfortable and very tense. Although, my only gripe with this film is that I wish we had just a little more background on the actual war going on. Instead of focusing on the relationship between Jessie and Lee (although, yes their relationship is important)
