Criterion blu ray rewatch with Iris. So so funny, constant laughter not just from “jokes” but from the designs and cuteness of it all. Technically breathtaking — animation, design, textures, is all some of the best that ive seen in any movie. Voice acting is also some of the best acting I’ve ever seen. Even the lighting(!) is better than most movies I’ve seen. Ash makes me sad because i feel like him, but maybe that’s the point. Excited to watch special features.

Godzilla Minus One 2023
Pretty. Kinda felt like the Captain America movie or Star Wars. Very American in that way, but also cool how they tackled the the subject of heroic martyrdom, specifically in a very historically japanese context. Nothing crazy here but definitely well done, a lot of satisfying moments, great production. One million times better than the aaron-taylor johnson godzilla.

Obviously a lot of good things here but overall feel of the package is very by-the-numbers and sort of lacking in vision and just not very exciting or arresting.
