A very rough and gritty noir that hits all the tones just right, sgt bannion is a tough as nails detective that just fits the premise so perfectly, it is essentially the archtypical characters you will eventually see in neo-noir films where the only thing missing is the booze and pain. With just a brisk 90ish minute runtime this movie paces so well, and also not to mention how great alot of the shots and camera movements feel, its all very slick.

The phrase "every frame a painting" sure seems accurate in this moment, the movies looks so good from start to end, the cinematography is very slick. Certainly an underrated scorsese movie that doesnt seem to get enough mention.

Day 46: Mark of The Devil

From the very first moment it started i could tell that i would love this film, it openes with a rather beautiful but haunting song almost like anything riz ortolani would make. From there you essentially have a more sleasy but brutal version of witchfinder general, while both films showcase the horror of the witch hunts mark of the devil goes one step beyond by showing the trur terror…
