NYC early screening + Q&A with Jon Chu, Stephen Schwartz, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jonathan Bailey. What an experience!!!

Phenomenal. I am a huge fan of the musical and obsessed with the music… and I do believe they did it justice. The set design was absolutely insane and so impressive considering they built those sets from scratch. The leads’ live vocals were fantastic — a brave yet great choice. The song adjustments and additions were wonderful. Cynthia Erivo and…

I wish I could see this in theaters again. I love when people intensely and dramatically love their art. I love tennis. I love love. I love dimples. This is my 9th watch lmao. It was always Patrick.

Recently read the book for the first time. They cast Lombard to be just as hot as I imagined him. I quite enjoyed this adaptation, though the plot-changes certainly made the story cheesier… but I know a nice “happy” ending was Hollywood’s ~thing~ back then. I didn’t totally mind the changes anyway. This is a perfect movie to watch on a plane lol

AMC Screen Unseen. Man, I’m writing this with TEARS smothering my face. Based on a beautiful true story!! Jeez!! I was apprehensive this would be white saviorism, but it’s basically the inverse — a reality check saved him. Cheesy, but cute, and just, and effective. And TRUE! Together, we are unvanquishable.

Sooooooo glad this was the Unseen movie. I kind of avoid many sentimental dramas because I cry too easily and too often, so I likely would have never intentionally seen this…

I went into this nervous that I would be watching 3.5 hours of a white savior movie, even though I didn’t think Marty would actually do that. This was not a white savior movie.

This is one of the most brutal films I have ever watched. I was sobbing and often shaking. And we saw it in IMAX, which just intensified it. Not a second of brutality was used for shock factor, despite the obvious reaction it would elicit out…

    Madame Web

I leave for the UK tomorrow and the only thing I was itching to do before leaving the US was… watch Madame Web in theaters.

I managed to convince my wonderful roommate Jack to catch a 9:45pm showing, even though he had already seen the movie a week ago. Dear sweet Jack thought “What a strange desire, but I’ll say yes to be a good friend.” So, despite his typical early bedtime, he reluctantly indulged me on my spontaneous request.…
