Started this series before I had a kid, finished watching it holding him. I'm actually exactly like this dude now.

The Friends of Eddie Coyle 1973
I kept seeing the word "unsentimental" when reading about this, and I get the meaning behind employing the word, but when sad-eyed Robert Mitchum in the tail end of his career is your lead, your fuckin movie isn't unsentimental and what's more I don't think you're going for that, either. Still, immaculately constructed, everything plays out in front of the camera, there is no wizard of oz voice planting meaning, motivation or feeling into your brain, and the movie ends as matter of factly as it begins. Turns out friendship doesn't count for much in mercenary worlds! Anyway, I really dug this, great little procedural.
