Nosferatu 2024
particularly brutal take on a familiar story; female desire conjures shame/ demon. so she must atone. by giving herself to death as a sacrifice for the greater good. because she broke the covenant of sanctified desire. men running in circles trying to contain the shame, the shame is contagious, plague metaphor etc etc
which is not to say there weren't things i liked; the camerawork, the play with archways and shadow, the costuming, the sets. that the screen in the theater froze on the scene of nosferatu's corpse dick ;)
