The Woman in the Yard 2025
Ended up leaving a pretty bad taste in my mouth but I enjoyed the first 2/3’s of the movie well enough. I think it does some pretty interesting things with the camera and Danielle Deadwyler really knocks it out of the park, but the film kinda stews in this heavy misery that I found pretty draining. And I was so disoriented and frankly pretty put off by the whole third act that I just walked away from it feeling pretty bleh. Not the worst thing I’ve seen this year but looking forward to leaving this one behind.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 2016
The strength of Rogue One is in how it clashes with the almost cartoonish and operatic air of the original trilogy to put a spotlight on what resistance actually tangibly means for the rebellion. Sacrifice is at the heart of the film because that is what it takes to keep the rebellion alive. Sure the rebellion was built on hope, but it survives because of sacrifice.
