Not sure how I feel about this one yet. Mainly watched it for David Thewlis and that was a great part of it.
Felt like a really depressing version of After Hours.
It was better than I expected. Great effects, terrible script.
I enjoyed watching Steve Buscemi and I was entertained by his character throughout. Everybody else in the movie behaved unlike normal humans, but I don’t think it detracted from my enjoyment of the Buscemi character. There was a lot of 90s-style experimental camera work and effects. Reminiscent of Run, Lola, Run in that sense.
Also there was a lot of early 2000s homophobia in it, but it seemed almost cartoonish.
I had confused this movie with Living in Oblivion, which I think I will seek out.
PS. This features the two leads of Boardwalk Empire’s early seasons
