a sobering indictment of the wanton cruelty and callous violence of Palestinian dispossession and subjugation. what i found most compelling were the depictions of the residents of Masafer Yatta, who despite the destruction chose to secretly rebuild, despite the constant threat of violence still found moments to laugh and celebrate, despite threats of displacement never lost their connection to the land. an amazing achievement and a must-see film

Good Morning 1959
a delightful treat of a movie. harmless hijinks, matching sweaters, the set (!), the little boy’s “i love you” — fun to watch!

The Third Man 1949
I saw this in a packed theater, and there was a palpable shift as soon as Welles appeared. The man next to me did eat a seemingly endless bag of pretzels and that took me out of it a few times, but worth it for a second viewing. Lots of angles with which to approach this film, which is why it is a classic. And as a German-knowing public works employee who is into palliative urbanism and herringbone, this was very much my vibe.
