it’s jack quaid’s year, and we’re all just living in it
with its creative fight sequences and gnarly, gasp-and-gag inducing moments, this film was a blast to watch with an audience. while i wish there was more development of the central romance and less cheesy, action-movie lines, jack quaid’s performance sold the film as it was, and i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s called back for a sequel. and with all of his injuries, i wouldn’t be surprised if his next villain is the guy that sold him his health insurance policy.

with so many reshoots, i’m actually surprised at how coherent the storyline was. that being said, did it feel like an awkward, stitched-together, sometimes/often discombobulated mishmash of re-edited footage and bad dialogue? absolutely. despite the (weirdly) fantastic performance from harrison ford, this movie underutilized its other cast members and their character’s arcs, particularly that of tim blake nelson’s the leader. further, in pursuit of trying to be a DC-conspiracy political mystery film à la STATE…
