Mesmerizing. I mean this as a compliment, but I found myself almost dozing off once or twice. So atmospheric to the point of being hypnotic at times.
What could have been a fairly standard animal story is elevated by a unique setting. The world is strange and captivating. It raises questions that don’t really have answers, which I liked.
The animation is dynamic and expressive. No words, but you can tell what any character is thinking at any given time. I found that my brain even invented dialogue for the animals on the fly.
Cool to see something like this take the Oscar.

Full disclosure I didn’t watch this today, but I was shown a cut of it a couple months ago. I’ll review it again once I see the finished product.
This was a blast to make. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first time working on a feature film. I hope the fun the cast and crew had carries over to audiences; I think it will.
