Wanted to love it, but my god I couldn’t stand Mark Ruffalo’s performance. Just bash me over the head with the metaphor. Maybe that was the point, I don’t know.

Gladiator II 2024
Some of the set pieces were really audacious, but it took away from what made the first one so good: Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix.
There’s also another big problem: Paul Mescal just isn’t bringing it. I don’t know exactly what IT is but he doesn’t have it.
Overall just an incredibly unnecessary movie, too, but oh well. I watched it on a plane just as Ridley Scott intended.
