the ending rendered me speechless. i have found such deep sadness in the wonderful writing, a sense of unnerving brilliance in the performances, and an explicit fascination with the film's execution! the last scene felt like a sharp, and abrupt blow to my gut, kicking the air out of my lungs, pushing the weight of the trauma back into my chest, just letting the pain consume my consciousness. i don't think i have ever felt this way about any other film. this was an experience. i definitely don't recommend watching this when you're not in an okay space, mentally. remarkable. remarkable.

unbearably unsettling. peak folk horror. the confession scene was so utterly mad and heavy and somehow depraved but despite this, i understood agnes and her pain. this is a smart, compelling, and daunting depiction of mental illness.
