"I just wanted to know how it started. Now I know. Feelings surge without one realizing it"

If I ask you what color you most closely remember In the Mood for Love the answer would be consice: Red. The poster's red, credits are red, the dress or overcoat you most likely remember Maggie Cheung dressed in is red. But have you ever noticed is not as abundant for most of the film? It certainly is there, lurking in the shadows,…

"A happiness without an Eva. That's what I wished for you, Shinji"

It took me four months of thinking and rethinking every single aspect of Thrice Upon a Time to realize what a genius and miraculous move they just pulled on us. It’s Eva recontextualized and molded from scratch into this beautiful and gargantuan new design. Sure, the story of Evangelion ended in 97’ but not for Hideaki Anno. It feels like he’s looking at the world with a brand…

Bong has two sides: his tryhard Korean Bong when he makes the best films of the century, and his American “Imma steal every bit of studio money possible and make whatever I desire mwahahaha” Bong.

Much, MUCH sadder than any trailer led me to believe. There was a scene of two characters hugging that had me teary-eyed on just the realization on how she was the only one that truly cared for him… at all. It’s agressively too much Snowpiercer,…

    ★★★★½

I haven’t felt the audience so devastated by a film’s ending in a very very long time. Everybody in the theater just sat there for a minute speechless, then just walked away slowly, and me and the other couples were just hugging each other. For all the infectious joyousness in the first act, just makes it even more hurtful how Anora spends the rest of the movie just delaying and fighting the inevitable. Seriously, that ending in the car will haunt me for quite a while…

Absorbing, hypnotizing, bleak but hopeful. Such an interesting and beautiful take on faith. Faith as the essence of life, faith as a hopeless void, faith as a cloak to hide your fears. It’s interesting to me how they never show directly the effects of the zone, none of the traps are shown and no limbs are torn off by not following the Stalker’s directions (if this was a Hollywood movie, that’s the first thing that would happen), we don’t understand…
