this is how movies are supposed to make you feel
the cinematography is insanely stunning, i paused this so many times just to drink it in. the super 8 footage, the neon signs that litter an otherwise empty texan sky, the driving with the walkie talkies scene, the entire final 30 minutes of this movie with the two way mirror.. i don't know what else to say about that scene but wowwww
i can't tell if it's soothing or infuriating…

Tuck Everlasting 2002
i watched this movie / read this book so much when i was sick as a kid, so naturally i'm trying to access some of its healing magic while i'm sick as an adult
it is pretty crazy that jesse leaves winnie in a time where they were going to hang a woman in the town square and then comes back for her in a time where fedex hand delivers packages to people's doorsteps. perhaps dropping by a bit earlier would've been the move

Hit Man 2023
from the makers of the manic pixie dream girl comes an exciting new trope! introducing: manic pixie murder girl. she has all of the qualities of the mpdg but with a brand new twist that you'll never see coming — she's down with murder <3
i was ready to like this but ugh, i cannot. i just don’t root for these two fools. not only are they very cringe (read: madison airlines scene), they also have a truly hollow relationship…

Anora 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
dizzying and frenetic in the way that sean baker is known for. that first act really makes you feel like you're on this whirlwind bender with anora. she's trying to keep up with the pace just like we are and it's so easy for her to get caught in it
and then it's interesting how they reallyyyy slow things down once the illusion is popped. it's no longer choppy and exciting for anora, it's just a new brand of chaos…
