  i’ve read it in other reviews and it’s true - this film is everything all at once. it goes through phases of being a musical, a comedy, an x rated film, and a sherlock type mystery. i don’t know if this worked in the film’s favor or not. while it definitely kept me intrigued and it all built up to the iconic ending, at some points i just laughed out of pure ridiculousness.

  wow. an amazing start to this movie challenge.

  aster is an incredible director and i love the slow burn approach that he takes to horror. the writing was awesome - the way that each scene connected with the ending was just breathtaking. this is the perfect example of a horror script and i love how it relates back to true folklore and satanic literature. i would definitely recommend this movie to anyone that enjoys odd horror/thriller films. the acting was also impeccable. aster’s first feature definitely set him up for the great career he has now.
