I really enjoyed this movie. My only complaint was i saw it with a 2 year old and so i was viewing it more critically and there were a lot of sexual jokes that didn't need to be there. They were funny and great for a PG13 animated film but not needed in PG. They were no worse than what I was raised with but it's 2025 and I think we need to move away from the weird grooming culture…
Not always the easiest watch but a deeply validating and human watch, strange and unusual, relatable, lonely, and lovely.
I haven't cried like that at a closing scene in a theater in forever, in fact maybe only one other time during the closing scene of Call Me By Your Name as Elio sits by a crackling fire with Sufjan Stevens haunting lyrics echoing. I liked that they drew from other horror movies, hence "a classic horror story," but also it didn't add that much. Definitely enjoyed the twist and the cultlike elements in parallel to the mafia. Maybe I would enjoy this more if I knew more about Mafia lore. Worth a watch.
