Visually, an ambitious and relentless masterpiece that elevates what the first one already broke ground with. Narratively sound, strong character moments bolstered by truly great voice acting. The only thing that knocks half a star for me is that there’s no hiding the fact that this is the middle child — it’s in service of the next chapter. Such an abrupt ending kind of took the air out of it for me a bit. But still, what a wild, incredible ride.

Edit: kinda want to give it the extra half star just for the soundtrack alone. Metro Boomin’, you king.

Spielberg was deep deep deep his bag with this one. Was my favorite movie as a kid — might still be my favorite movie as an adult.

I can only imagine how much of a spectacle this was when it first released because I still marvel at it 30 years later. It’s more than it’s monsters — it’s philosophical, it’s provoking, and it’s somehow heartwarming amidst the terrors. Truly a work of art and a trailblazer for practical & special effects.

Bong Joon-Ho, you fucker, you’ve done it again. Incredible throughout — clear in vision, excels in its performances, nails the popcorn fun.

This felt like a sort of soul successor to Attack the Block for me. Had all of the grit, all of the heart, all of the humor, and all of the John Boyega.

The entire cast killed this, and Juel Taylor’s vision shined through. So glad I got to see it in Inglewood’s brand new theatre.

The life cycle of a weapon begins with its birth as an idea — a theoretical solution to a problem. And when that idea comes into reality, it’s simply a tool. But any tool held by men with opposing ideologies soon becomes a blade. What damage is done by these weapons is no longer in your control. Oppenheimer, once a man of theory, became a mutilator by his own design. And Cillian Murphy was exceptional as a man coming to…
