  This was super fun and funny!!! Definitely had a few elements that could have been cut entirely to tighten up the story. I wonder how much of that was due to this being a novel adaptation.

  Did you know this was based on a TRUE STORY where the American military dumped 20 gallons of formaldehyde into the Han River? A drinking source for 12 million people in Seoul??? 

  And then they were like OMG we’re SORRY, okay?? It’s not THAT big of a deal 🙄

  Anyway, the US couldn’t possibly be the monster.

  Before I think too hard about how on-the-nose and outdated the feminism felt and how loose the plot was and how Mattel used it as a self-aware wink-nod 2 hour long commercial, I will bask in Barbie’s beauty and humor and Ryan Gosling’s flawless performance bc as cynical as I am, I can admit that it was so so fun.

Following
