YSL’s dream of the 60s has been a pebble in my shoe recently (spent too much money on an ill advised jacket just last week trying to get closer to the vision). Picked this movie on a whim and was floored by the costuming! Wanna guess who’s responsible???

it’s the quarter century and I’ve vowed to be less of a bitch baby about horror.
had several apprehensions: lilly rose, so many americans playing Brits, so many americans playing Brits in olde germany, another 2.5 hour runtime.
my apprehensions weren’t disproven in the more than two (!) hours, but they were countered with the surprising humor of the quick cuts, willem dafoe mopping the floor w the entire cast, eggers’s unmatched eye.
neither robert nor lilly rose invented how easy it is to intertwine sex and evil but GOD they didn’t even try to make it complicated.
somehow didn’t mind it!!!
