Kill, Baby... Kill! 1966
The most atmospheric movies make me feel like I’m in a different place when I watch them. They create their own vivid, imaginary worlds. I love the idea that a few sounds and pictures on a screen can transport me out of my seat and into wherever they want to take me. The first 15 minutes or so of this movie is a perfect example of that. Now I can close my eyes and feel like I’m back in the lush but foreboding gothic European village I watched for just 80 minutes. It does not get better than that in my opinion.

Week 5 of the 2021 Cult Movie Challenge - Shaw Brothers Week
The Shaws remain unmatched when it comes down to the most important part of Kung Fu movies: the Kung Fu. The fight scenes in this are ridiculous. A guy snatches out another guys eyeballs right out of his face, AND THEN THE OTHER GUY DOES IT BACK. Name one other studio whose movies have quadruple eyeball snatching.
I’ll wait.
