In the Heat of the Night 1967
Watched this on a whim, realizing I hadn't seen it before. Sidney Poitier was robbed of Best Actor simply from racism. Its a buddy cop noir film, so of course, it's copaganda, and I will acknowledge that. And it doesn't fully get racism, but I didn't expect it to, tbh. Really great score, Ray Charles fuckin kills it on the main theme. Cinematography is not complex, but it doesn't have to be. Love a noir set in the south tbh, good for conflict. Worth a watch!
