  These continue to be awful and yet I continue. At least they had Nathan from Ted Lasso in there as a token ethnic to make fun of Indian names, what a treat after the last two completely whitewashed films!

  Edit: whoops, looked back at the cast lists of the first 2 films - my bad, forgot about the Thai prison scene. Not completely whitewashed.

  Ahh I really wanted to love this, but I just found it a bit too overwhelming and grating at times. Some great performances though

  I think you might need to like Lady Bird the character to like Lady Bird the film. She was annoying and petulant, and the characters around her were huge cliches from a million high school films. Gets 2.5 stars cos her mum and her best friend were ace women that I want to go to the pub with.

  Gone Girl 2014

  Really good adaptation of the book. Yet another film where I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the book, probably more so than most cases. NPH is always a delight. The final third felt even more ludicrous than in the book, but I'm glad that they didn't shy away from humour altogether.
