we aren’t done with creepy happy birthday singing? an incredibly boring, cliche, run of the mill horror. Visually great, but edited sloppily. This film was talked up as an antitheses to the modern vibeless jump scare fest. I was genuinely surprised and disappointed that this film was just that. Ooo the spooky dolls eyes opened! Ahh! This movie feels like it was designed to scare fox news moms. You’d think the son of Anthony Perkins would have something/anything to say about queer coded villains; or at least be a little more careful. My theater laughed through the film.

I wish so badly that I had movies like this and EEAAO when I was growing up. I love what greta did with this opportunity and I so hope that the movies learn the right lessons from this film and what it accomplished on screen and off. “We mothers stand still so our daughters can look back to see how far they have come."
