  Revisiting Black Panther last night, I was hit with a wave of nostalgia and realized I might have been too harsh on my first watch. Enjoyed this a bit more on my second watch. That said, I still couldn’t get past the terrible accents, weak fight choreography, and at times, atrocious animation. The story felt a bit choppy, but it’s forgivable given the film’s ambitions.

  I don’t know much about Germans (since I don’t meet many here in the U.S.), but if I had to guess what qualifies as German humor based on the stereotypes in my head, it would be Toni Erdmann. It’s cringey, absurd, uncomfortable, and awkward—in the best way.
