Funny and also a punch to the gut. The group behind me on the way out of the theater were arguing whether or not it romanticized sex work. I think thats the wrong question. It does romanticize it but it doesn't glamorize it. I think thats an important distinction and I think its what makes it work really well

Went in hoping for stop motion excellence. Was severely disappointed by the lack of artistry. The promos talked about the power of animation to make things alive with hair and fabric and its just like. This film felt plasticine and 3d printed. Like in a world in which stop motion was treated with respect this would be a substandard example of such. Also felt like gdt actually wanted to make a movie about fascist italy but could only get funding…
