  "Alone" (possibly more recognizable if I call it "The Chocolate Cake Song") makes the whole musical element worth it.

  A very weird film about a very weird family in a very weird situation, but the actors embraced the zaniness, so it kind of works. It's too long for its own good; but the whole thing swims in emotion.

  The more films I see, the more I realize how vital chemistry is to my enjoyment of a piece. So much so that I’ll give incredible leeway to many other shortcomings. Whatever weaknesses this mini-series has, Boynton and Poulter’s casting is stronger.
