This articulates so much that I’ve never had the words for. Truly a unique flavor that I’ve found myself thinking about days after viewing.

Also really love how he manages to remove us from the rules of our reality to articulate a point. He does it in most (all?) of his films and this is the most ambitious attempt yet.

I loved how bought into this Emma Stone seemed. Completely unhesitant in her performance. I read somewhere that they designed the sets to have soft corners for fear of her hurting herself and that’s the commitment actors need from directors to bring out the highest performances.

DDL is somehow subtle and overt at the same time and it melts my brain watching him be a genius. Also, something about this movie feels wholly original in a way that I don’t get to see much despite it technically being an adaption. Need more of that in my watchlist.

Also also, no fault but my own, but I constantly had to adjust the volume during this movie bc i live in an apartment and Im sure my downstairs neighbors wouldn’t appreciate Daniel’s performance as much as i did.

The themes about justice and order are strongly executed with excellent direction and nuanced performances by most everyone cast. The first 45 minutes are some of Vellenueve’s best work in my opinion, with a tight, efficient pace building to the boarder scene. The film stumbles towards the end, but lands on an emotionally impactful scene which communicates a very real moral issue with tact. Overall, a new favorite of mine 👌

    Also: Wow Emily Blunt.
              Wow Denis Vellenueve.
              Wow Taylor Sheridan.
Very wow Roger Deakins (as perusual).

I do not believe Tommy Wiseau is real, no matter how many scenes James Franco remakes.
