I was held at gunpoint, tied to a chair, and forced to make this account by the Georgie-June clique.

I'm Still Here 2024
Absolutely crushing to watch it, and I did really enjoy how they perfectly weaved the attempted continued normality of the family with the soul-destroying knowledge that nothing is normal about their situation. Wasn't a fan of the two epilogues but even so this is a great film.

RIP Gene Hackman, I didn't love this film but you were a damn compelling protagonist.

Funeral Parade of Roses 1969
This film is so beautiful and haunting, immaculately depicting the queer condition: one of joy and trauma, one of visibility and obscurity, one of community and isolation. What is most impressive about this film is how, despite having been filmed in 1960s Tokyo, so much of the overarching themes about queer identity are so relatable to me, and I cried at several points during my watch. I loved the cinematography, with the eclectic score, non-linear sequencing, and the heady jumps from documentary-style interviews to the plot to the director making a brief cameo appearance. A masterpiece.

Chungking Express 1994
This is possibly one of my favourite films of all time. Wong Kar-Wai is an absolute genius, his approach to cinema is just so enjoyable to watch and I feel like I’m in a trance. Faye Wong, Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Brigitte Lin are incredible. Nothing more to say.
