Ponman 2025
Pon-man is the greatest superhero, powered by incredible courage and humanism, rising from the thick, golden sludge of working-class life, his petite physique miraculously appearing before people when they expect him the least, to show them light.
This could have been better, certainly, more thoughtful and suggestive, with a more controlled use of songs in the narrative and better narrative flow. But that doesn't diminish the appeal of this film in the contemporary mainstream scenario. If one is to overlook its aesthetic plainness, this is a better film than Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.
Ajeesh's courage is inspiring.

Bougainvillea 2024
I've come back from the dead to pay my sympathies to Amal, for his loss of mirth and mojo. This is his weakest film – the sort a Pushkaran-less Aashiq Abu would make.
Jyothirmayi looks gold, but she's been defeated by the screenplay and edit structure, which have the texture of a plastic bag. The film lacks humour, except where it becomes unintentionally funny.
It's also poorly filmed.
I should stop watching films, lest I witness the fall of talented technicians before my eyes.

Identity 2025
This is a serious textbook on what/how not to do (in) a vernacular crime thriller.
Of course, the story is convoluted balls to the wall. But it isn't just that.
Install a Jaada metre inside your brain to check the level of fanciness your average-brained narrative can take. The characters are sitting down for a serious talk. Do you need those three shots of coffee beans grinding and hands preparing filter coffee? If their apartment looks like an Ikea store…
