Tangerine 2015

I appreciate when a film is able to have me hooked instantly, they don’t take time to set things up but things just start unraveling. It’s sometimes kinda weird going back and watching earlier films from a director for the first time. In a way it just makes sense that Anora would come from him 9 years after Sean Baker made this. The guy really has a passion for depicting crazy sex worker drama. I can’t believe they actually filmed this on a iPhone 5. It really fits well with the film though.
The Elephant Man 1980

I think this is a good first introduction film to David Lynch. A lot less ambiguous than something like eraserhead but with this being a David Lynch film, of course it's going to super unconventional in its own respect. This has so much heart in it and really understands the human condition.

City of Love 2023

A very well put together film. It was quite fun to watch. The inspirations of Tax Driver and Nightcrawler are very potent. In a way, it’s like a modern day LA Taxi Driver. It seems the acting was a little stiff at times other than that it was great. The director is hilarious, I hope to see future works from him.

This has been on my watchlist list for a while now. Why haven’t I watched this sooner😫 I’d say that the first half is a bit slow but the dialogue hits so hard. Absolute pure heart and soul poured into this movie.
