Watched on a whim with my two girls and it left us utterly devastated. What a beautiful film.

Mickey 17 2025
Pacing, length and overall tone were all over the place. Ruffalo & Collette (who are two of my favorites) completely felt out of place & poorly written. Ackie is just not my cup of tea -- overacted. Didn't like her in Blink Twice either.
Seems like Bong Joon Ho lost the plot of his own movie. The entire concept of doubles, expendables, etc is interesting -- but the whole second half focus elsewhere made the film feel lost and meandering.
Certainly understood…

The Brutalist 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
An untraditional film (literally), that felt lived in. Certainly “on the nose” things to gripe about, but I choose not to. A beautiful spectacle that felt worthy, upon reflection, of its runtime.
And good lord does that score fucking goooo. Not something I’ll likely listen to around the house but, just a special thing paired with the cinematography. Obviously the Statue of Liberty moment will get much attention, but the blue marble hills in Italy took my breath away.

A Real Pain 2024
Why are you walking by yourself, are you a big fucking loser or something?
Culkin and Eisenberg doing the things you'd expect of them. If that is your cup of tea, you'll love it. If you're over it, well, you'll be over this film in 20 minutes.
Anyway, I love these two guys and appreciated what felt like a very real friendship/relationship throughout. Some great human moments and some real laugh out loud ones as well.
