Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning 2023
no offense. kinda mid.
as much as i love tom cruise’s ability to employ the “spectacle of cinema”, this movie is just another classic ~mission impossible adventure~. the action is still good (fine). the stunts have obviously been ramped up and are just plain amazing. but everything is too predictable and almost emotionless now. relying on action alone to entrap audience attention is always risky, and unfortunately i don’t think it worked out this time. u almost know what’s going…

Dune 2021
Rebecca Ferguson has a 2 and a half hour panic attack and Timmy amazingly portrays indecisive doubt but also confidence. This film was insane in almost every cinematic element possible, though I don’t get why people be whispering so much. At times Hans Zimmer went a little too ham with his soundtrack forcing me to read Chinese subtitles which I barely understood.
I’d lock this in as film of the year absolutely. I don’t think I’ve witnessed a cinematic experience…

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
animation. soundtrack. perfect. not much to say beyond that. truly perfect, ground breaking animation, beautiful beyond compare. why CGI anything when you can have animation like this.
however, 2.15 hours needs to have a complete story. Cliffhanger endings are great and all, especially for superhero films that beg for sequels and trilogies, BUT! The lack of development in narrative holds it back. Not to a point where the movie is ruined, but it certainly left a stain on my experience.…Translated from by
