  Been on a bender of Orson Welles screeds lately and decided to finally throw this on only to have my brain fellated. Unbelievably fascinating, inspiring, and wonderful. I yearn increasingly for the unexpected in modern media, yet I think the only person even dabbling in this degree of hyper-creative fuckery, of all people, is Nathan Fielder. Double feature with Exit Through The Gift Shop for the ultimate treatise on how all art is life itself and all art is total horseshit.

  Learning that if a movie opens with "O Mio Babbino Caro," I'm probably in for it. Was true for A Room With a View and definitely true for this. Realized a few minutes in that I actually hadn't seen a bonafide dogme 95 film and accepted the ocular headache that soon set in.

  Deeply upsetting for a movie where Werner Herzog dances to Dock Boggs in his boxers while drinking cough syrup out of a slipper. For all its (extremely) rugged presentation, this is really one of the more realized and empathetic portrayals of mental illness I can think of. Sevigny is angelic.

  "If you leave something behind, you gain something too."

  My god, and I'm just supposed to go about my day after this? Those last 10 minutes? Most stirring and tender romance in years. Amazing debut from Song. Yea, it's a meme, but A24 is simply unstoppable right now. Can't wait to reassess all of my life decisions when I get home.
