An incredibly touching film, filled with love and care for the community of people it communes with.
The film makes clear the connection between the crisis in community that occured after the closing of the pits and the necessity there was to build a new creative community, constantly reinventing what Barnsley is and could be if it had to stop being a mining town.
Also the people the film focuses are are absolutely incredible, they light up as bright as…

The Town I love So Well 2025

Pom Poko 1994
An incredible film about the joy of resistance to occupation and political tactics that is also an in depth exploration of how despite the strength of a community, tactics can fail and the consequences of these failures. A beautiful movie that spends time to show us the beauty that is to be found in the now while envisioning a liberated future. If i had to title this review it would be: "the transmutation of ballsacks as a liberative practice"
