"Yeah, I was in Take That. And also four out of five Spice Girls."

That's deeply hilarious, but it’s not true, and Robbie's also misquoting himself to make it even funnier. This isn't a super grounded journey we're on.

2005 at a Teach First house party watching the Live 8 benefit concert. Robbie came on stage to close the show and the Hyde Park crowd and everyone around me completely lost their minds. I had no clue who he was,…

I spent weeks trying to track down a copy of Night at the Opera after I heard it on KLOR in 1988 in my father's jeep. When he went for work to the UK later that year, my one request was that he find me a copy of the out of print in America Flash Gordon soundtrack.

By 1990 I was scouring VHS catlogues for copies of their concert movies. I eventually found Montreal and Wembley and somehow they exceeded…

I love disposable genre movies because if you get one thing truly right and keep it under 100 mins we're doing just fine.

You can have a stupid script, but be saved by the acting. Shoddy production with a twist we kind of saw coming, but it's still cool. Inventive set pieces with nothing in between but it doesn't matter because they rule.

But you can't be mediocre at everything, and The Monkey is. It's Wal Mart Final Destination, stealing the conciet but forgetting the creativity...and it's still better than Long Legs.

Five years ago Anthony Hopkins won best actor for The Father. Maybe not the right choice, but it's not undeserved- he manages dignity through indignance in what feels like a capstone performance from a legend ready to say goodbye.

But now, at 87 years old, he chose to do Locked, a B movie script elevated by what if we actually tried performances by both him and a commited no winking Bill Skaarsgard as Beavis Pete Davidson, and he seems to…

Some real Bear Snores On vibes for M and I in what felt like a sneaky tear jerker gem of a movie. She'd read the book and isn't the best on spoilers but did pretty well here, "That goose is going to be very important to the story." Noted.

I was doing fine and maybe even a little bit bored through the first third of what felt like Iron Giant lite- but then everyone had to start helping each other…

The Wick comparisons aren't really fair. Sure the fight scenes are creative and frenetic, but you can feel the budget and they aren't anywhere near the balletic heights that Wick so often reaches.

But Monkey Man's passable how is more than made up for by its righteous why and extraordinary who. It's been a long time since I've seen an action hero wear pain and rage as compellingly as Patel. I'm not even sure what the comp is- Choi in…
