“I have adventured and found it nothing but sugar and violence.”

Finally out in the UK! Really adored this, and it worked so well in a packed out cinema screen. Such a unique, strange, but interesting and outright hilarious movie. The story of Bella Baxter, and her discovery of the world, compelling throughout, and never going the way I quite expected it too. A feminist Frankenstein, a film about empowerment and self discovery, and it really…

“I loved him, but was I in love with him?”

Absolutely not what I was expecting, but all the better for it, honestly. I really loved this film. Intriguing and captivating throughout, a much weirder and wilder experience than I was expecting. Emerald Fennell does such a great job at subverting expectations throughout, moving the film carefully through its twists and turns, making it such an engrossing film.

Written and directed by Fennell, who does a…

What a lovely, and utterly charming little movie. Maybe it’s because I’m a cat person with my own little kitty, but this really worked for me. It’s really rather incredible that someone can just use some free software available to anyone and create this. A true low budget passion project that just feels exactly like the sort of animation deserving of an Oscar.

The animation is gorgeous, with the main cat being wonderfully designed and brilliantly…

“Why don’t you just get in your rocket and fuck off back to Legoland, you cunts!”

Seriously underrated. I don’t think it’s quite as good as the other two movies of the trilogy but there’s still so much I adore about this one. It has more depth to its characters and a darker tone compared to the other two movies, and reversing our two mains leads funnyman/straight man dynamic really works.

Has some of Wright’s best dialogue, and stylish direction, it perhaps does get a tad repetitive in the second act, but always manages to be funny and the cast are all brilliant.

“Can the spider come out and play?!”

Well, guess I got a new favourite film of the year and favourite MCU movie in one go. It was great to see this in a packed out cinema, with plenty of lovely reactions to even the littlest moments here. Spider-Man is my all time favourite hero, and this film, for me, ticked all my boxes. I’m not going to spoil anything but for as much fan service as…

    “What’s it like to die?”

Had such a fun time with this. It’s pretty much what I expected, a fun science fiction story, with plenty of wackiness and a very unsubtle message conveyed in a charming way. It’s a heightened satire, and while there are some issues with the pacing and some of the story beats, I was thoroughly entertained throughout.

Bong Joon Ho brings plenty of style and flair to his direction, as expected. It’s…
