Ill keep my Magnolia comparisons very brief. While magnolia uses its web of interconnecting stories like cogs in an elaborate mechanical machine, Altman uses his stories like subtle brush strokes to paint a depressing picture of human misery. The intersections of these stories aren't meant to lead to some grandiose resolution, but rather highlight how blissfuly ignorant we are to other's suffering and how it influences our own.
