    The Hitchcocks keep coming!

Now, with The 39 Steps, which marked another step in the direction of a young director who is becoming more confident and ambitious, this film definitely feels like the Hitchcock I know. Suspenseful and intense, The 39 Steps had me along for most of the ride!

    Wow! another Hitchcock!

Watched back to back with Number Seventeen, you can see a clear improvement in a lot of different areas such as the production, script, and most noticable for me, the acting. Especially the acting felt a lot more modern and human as a result. Fun movie!

I feel so many things throughout this film, I don't know what to say. I could talk about the technical beauty in all the different scenes, but I wouldn't be talking about what I really want to talk about. I could talk about how this might be the best script I have ever seen in a movie and I still wouldn't be talking about what I really want to talk about. Hell, I could even mention how Paris feels like…

    This movie gave me chills.

The descent into tragedy here is absolutely decimating. I knew beforehand that the story would include some shocking subject matter but I did not expect it to hit such a cord with me.

Out of all his movies up to now, I feel as though this one truly exposes Bergmans deeply pessimistic worldview, as well as his view of god. God is here and he lets this happen? What kind of god is that?

This is also without a doubt the best shot film of his I've seen!
